About Crossroads Public School

Crossroads Public School was built and opened in 2011 by the District School Board of Niagara to accommodate the children of Col. John Butler and Virgil Public Schools.  These aging facilities were deemed prohibitive to repair, and a new property was purchased for a state-of-the-art facility to house the combined population.

This two storey, fully accessible facility includes 22 bright and spacious classrooms, a large double gymnasium, elevator, and a state-of-the-art Learning Commons (Library & Tech Lab), all on a beautiful 8 acre property. We have a population of 450 Kindergarten to grade 8 children.

When Crossroads Public School opened its doors to students in September 2011, it simultaneously launched a new era of environmentally-sustainable school building technologies in Niagara. Thanks to a substantial Renewable Energy Funding Grant of $962,496 from the Ministry of Education, the school’s roof is home to 338 photovoltaic crystalline solar panels that generate approximately 25% of the school’s power needs.

Crossroads is a Full Day Kindergarten Program site with active full-day, every-day programs run by OCT qualified Teachers and Early Childhood Educators working in partnership. Research has proven that children who participate in full-day kindergarten get a solid foundation for future learning and demonstrate substantially improved reading, writing and math skills.

Additionally, we offer a supportive environment for children new to the English Language from Kindergarten to Grade 8, in a school dedicated to celebrating diversity and inclusion.

We have also joined with Niagara Nutrition Partners to offer a Healthy Snack Program at our school.  Daily delicious and nutritious snacks are served to our students free of charge! Details about how you can become involved in this program as a donor and/or volunteer are available by calling 905-468-7793.

Crossroads Public School offers wonderful educational and co-curricular opportunities, provided by our exemplary staff, in our fantastic facility...
